Next Weekend you can find me sketching, chatting & having a thoroughly good time at the nearest show to me, the MCM Birmingham Comic Con. Not quite as much Traveling, but hopefully an awful lot of Sketching. The show is Twinned with the Memorabilia show at the NEC, so 2 for the price of one! More details on their website here: http://www.mcmcomiccon.com/birmingham/ I had an early start for this years Cardiff show. I would usually drive, but this time I grabbed a Cross Country Train down to the show. Although this meant an early start, I got the chance to see parts of the country I had not seen before. That is the nice thing about doing new shows in new ways, you get to see things from new angles. It is always good to learn doing this job, which is something I hope I am continually doing. I arrived at the Show 10 minutes before opening to be greeted by the friendly staff & a long queue waiting around the block, some in cosplay as their favorite characters. Others just wanting to get something involving their favorite characters. Which is where I come in. I had a nice mix of requests this time. Especially as much of them were characters I actually love myself. Getting to draw things I enjoy is one of the best aspects of this job.
I will be at the Cardiff International Comic & Anime Expo on March the 2-3rd. That is this coming weekend to all those with calendar phobias out there. The Event is hosted in the Mercure Holland House on 24-26 Newport Road in Cardiff. The doors open Saturday Morning from 10 until 6 & 10.30 until 5 on the Sunday. These times are for Pre-booked tickets. Tickets on the day are available from 11am. These will be limited availability though, so remember to cue early! I will be Sketching all weekend, 1st come 1st serve. Remember I can only produce so much in a day! For more information about the show & everything else that will be taking place on the weekend click the website here: http://www.fantasyevents.org/cicae/ This Weekend I will be heading back up to the Big Apricot. (As I would like it to be known!) For The London Super Comic Convention. Based in the Excel Centre alongside the Docklands this promises to be one hell of a show. With the biggest creators in Comics from around the world this will be the mecca for all Comics aficionados. The doors open at 9.00 on Saturday morning for early entry, so remember to be bright eyed & busy tailed. You will find me in the Artists Alley at Table C28 on the far wall to your left. Just before you get to the half way point. You could always run down the middle isle & look that big Optimus Prime banner! Pre-orders will be able to be picked up from the morning, and if you have a sketch request come to me 1st thing, as I get full up pretty quick and can only do a limited amount on each day. 8TH-10TH February 2013 The Carrington House Hotel, Bournemouth I am pleased to say I have been added to the Guest List for the SBall 19 which will be taking place in 10 DAYS! Yes that's right in a mere 10 days The SF Ball will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Deep Space Nine. A fantastic and intense three day social experience that has a unique atmosphere generated by hundreds of enthusiastic attendees. I will be there to provide sketches of your favorite characters, I will also have original comic art with me, plus Mars Attacks & Star Wars Sketch cards available! The 3 Day Weekend starts with a bang with the official dancers night out at the Friday night disco, then dine in real style on Saturday at the formal and fabulous full 3-course black-tie or fancy dress Banquet with late-night cabaret and dancing until 2am. Finally on Sunday sing to your hearts content at the Karaoke-Disco until midnight. The fun just doesn't stop. Friday night's theme is Quarks Bar. Saturday night's theme for The Ball itself is All things Star Trek - so plenty of scope for costumes! Sunday night's theme is Fantasy, Myths & Legends. Add to this the star guests, autographs, celebrity photo sessions and more - it's a weekend that all attendees will remember for the rest of the year! See you there! For more details click on the SFBall logo above! Now experiencing the Monday relax after a hectic weekend at the MCM Memorabilia show. With The Two-Day Sketchathon now complete I get to relay my thoughts on the show.
Fun thing about this event is the variety of things i'm asked to draw. Chainsaw wielding Batman decapitating characters, Iron Men, Robots packing a punch, Chicks with whips, and assorted Star wars related sketches. Even if they are made of lego! Big thanks to all those that came down to see me, chat and challenge my sketchability. (Is that a word?) Also the organisers for providing the space and putting on such a great show! Was great Nuff said, now look at some pics P:) I will be at the MEMORABILIA show this coming weekend. I'll be signing and sketching Saturday 24h November from 9am to 5pm. Sunday 25th November 10am to 5pm. I will also have original comic art with me, plus Mars Attacks & Star Wars Sketch cards available - I might even sneak sketch covers through if asked! Oh, & the Hasslehoff will be there too! I will be popping along to the Leed's THOUGHT BUBBLE Comic Art Festival this coming weekend. You will find me out and around the show on the Sunday. Although very last minute the organizers have kindly extended me the permission to sketch at a table when one becomes available later in the day. Up until then you can find out where I am at the show by following my Twitter feed. So if your after a sketch and I am at the bar, feel free to join me :) http://twitter.com/LEEBRADLEY_COM I'll be sketching on Saturday 17th November at The COMSHOP Lichfield's ONLY dedicated store for computers and computer accessories, PC and laptop repairs, video games, comics and sci-fi collectibles! They are celebrating being open 6 months and are doing a a week long of events. If any of you are in the area or know anyone in the area feel free to pop in. Look forward to seeing you there! http://www.computersandcomics.com Last Sunday I had the chance to pop down to CICE. The CARDIFF INTERNATIONAL COMIC EXPO held at the MERCURE HOTEL. The show, more of a Mini-Con was a practice run for next years plannedmuch larger Two-Day Event. Unlike a lot of shows, the pace was relaxed, where I was able to slide off my kicks (literally) and interact more with the attendees and other Artists whilst sketching. The doors opened from 11.00 until 5.00. With an attendance of over 500 turning up and many a Cosplayer in tow. It was nice to have a constant crowd but without the usual pressure of a larger event. Which gave me more time to chat to everyone individually that were in attendance. It was also good to chat away with my fellow guests especially Mike Collins who was sitting beside me. I got to draw a nice mix of characters on the day, with a few unusual requests including a Tron style Captain America, which was challenging, but fun. A big thanks to Mike Alwood for the invite. & hopefully I will make it back down next year! |
